Our Story

Lorraine is a multi-talented instrumentalist, international educator with over 25 years of experience in both private and group lessons, world-class coach, mentor, conductor, and an author of 27 Stringstastic music theory books for violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

She graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Studies in 2008 and then completed her Graduate Diploma of Education at the Australian Catholic University a year later. Lorraine also holds a Post Graduate in Education from Birmingham City University.

Having grown up with a musical family, Lorraine began piano lessons at the age of four, taught by her mother, and began learning the violin at the age of six, giving her first violin performance at just seven years of age. At age 14, Lorraine started teaching the violin and founded a string ensemble at her local church. From there, teaching became her passion.

Lorraine has extensive ensemble and orchestral experience in Malaysia and in Australia. In her career, Lorraine was the National Administrator and the local representative of Trinity College London, Australia as well as a council member with the Music Teachers Association, NSW for more than 6 years. Lorraine is currently the Music Director of Stringstastic Pty Ltd, coordinates instrumental programmes, and runs string ensembles for some of Sydney’s most celebrated schools. Lorraine is currently a Chapter Vice President of the Australian Strings Association, AUSTA NSW and a member with ISME.

In her spare time, Lorraine enjoys traveling, speaking and coaching women and teachers internationally, and her recent Non-Profit Music Education Project with Heartland Academy in Kathmandu, Nepal where she has started a string program and sponsored to train 2 local teachers to continue on with the program independently. Lorraine also enjoys trying new food and spending time with her dog Tilly, who enjoys listening to string instruments.
